Each year, students in grades 3-9 take the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) test and 11th graders take the Michigan Merit Exam (MME).

In 2011-12, The Michigan State Board of Education approved new MEAP and MME "cut scores" for Mathematics, Reading, Science and Social Studies, raising the bar for our students. With the new cut scores, students need to get roughly 65 percent of the answers correct to "pass" the state test instead of only 39 percent as was the previous benchmark.

Below, you will find several pieces of information to help you better understand these scores. If you have any additional questions, contact your building principal or visit http://1.usa.gov/statetests.
